Dear Families,
Welcome to 5th grade! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child and working together to help your child succeed! As parents and guardians, I understand that you are the most important teachers in your child’s life and it is with that understanding that I appreciate the role that you and I each play in the partnership to your child achieving the goals set forth for him or her. I have written an introduction letter to your child about myself but I would like to take this opportunity to give you a brief overview as well. I earned my BS in Business Administration and my Masters in Education Administration from Chapman University. I have 15 years of teaching experience, with the last four being at Fruitvale Elementary.
I will be teaching your child reading, writing, language, spelling, science and social studies. I love all of the subjects that I teach but it is especially my goal to instill a lifelong passion of learning and valuing education in all of my students. I have very high expectations of myself as a teacher as well as of my students and I have always found that to be a formula for success! I want this to be an enjoyable year for all of my students but also a productive, challenging and encouraging year.
Students will be having a wide array of assignments throughout the year. Students will be expected to complete all the work by the due date. This will include daily reading to achieve their AR points. Parents, know that your child will be having daily homework, including some Friday’s. Please help with the success of your child by checking their homework as it will be listed in their daily planners as well as in the school website: fruitvale.hemetusd.org.
It will be a pleasure to meet each parent and work with you throughout the year. If you have any questions, please write a note, call the school at 951-765-1680, email me at [email protected].
Once again, welcome to 5th grade! I know that, together, we can make this a wonderful school year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Stephan
